AARON BROWN & KATIE BELSKY
Aaron and Katie began their Blues partnership in March of 2011. Their dance history together extends all the way back to 2007 when Aaron first started dancing in their collegiate scene and both discovered Blues. Katie started her love affair with dance back in 2004 where she fell head over heels for Lindy Hop. Together, the two of them have trained in a number of different dance styles, including Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, and Ballroom, but their heart will always lie with Blues. They DJ and teach throughout California and are always inspired by the warmth and energy of their students and fellow dancers. Aaron and Katie strive to teach their classes with a mix of humor and technique to instill the same passion for Blues that their own teachers have inspired. Be sure to ask them to dance – they would love to see you out on the floor!
Erin has been haunting the dance floor since the early 2000’s. With a huge variety of dances from blues and swing to Ballroom and belly dancing, you will find her feet moving to any beat.
Having a deep belief that anyone can dance if their willing to put in the effort, Erin skillfully breaks down dance movements to what people do in everyday life. Furthermore, she believes that dancing is a joyful physical expression and that reflects in her teaching.
She teaches both locally and nation-wide, is a frequent competitor, and part of the all-star women’s blues troupe, Mojo Aristocracy. She’s frequently dressed to the nines, so be on the lookout for her and ask her for a dance!
Tim O’Neill started dancing in 1997 and couldn’t stop! He has studied and taught Blues, Lindy, Ballroom, and Argentine Tango and even wrote two theses for an MA in Sociology on social dynamics and body language observed in dance venues. Since 2009 he has trained or taught at over fifty events and has thirteen Blues competition titles to his name from the biggest events in the US. Tim believes the best way to dance is to have fun, and learning dance enhances that ability. When taking Tim’s classes expect to laugh, have fun, be entertained, and learn—a lot. And be sure to ask him to dance!
Tracy is originally from Chicago. She studied Animation at the Savannah College of Design (in Georgia), where she came across the Lindy Club one fateful evening. The club would play two blues songs each meeting, and the girls would fight for the one lead that could blues. This wouldn’t do, so she quickly learned to lead. After graduating in 2005 she moved to Los Angeles only to discover that there were NO BLUES DANCING VENUES! This simply would not do. So, in September 2006, she started do Something Blue by organizing dSB’s first workshop weekend. It was such a success that in January 2007 she began organizing a monthly blues dance. In addition to hosting do Something Blue every month, Tracy organized three additional workshops, including L.A. Blues 2009 and 2010. She would like to thank Ken & Rita being the pioneers of Blues in Southern California and Mandy for her endless support for anything blues in Los Angeles.
